Accessories Required for Oxygen Therapy:

MASKS
You may take oxygen using a mask. They are useful for higher flows or if you have a cold, but they make it difficult to talk or eat when taking oxygen.

CANNULAE
Cannulae are very convenient to use. They enable you to take oxygen through your nose and allow you to eat, talk or drink at the same time. They can, however, irritate the nose of some users.

HUMIDIFIERS

Supplementary oxygen is usually very dry. Though it is mixed with the room air before you breathe it, you may find your nose becomes dry and sore. Your doctor may recommend a humidifier which will be supplied and fitted.

CREAM

To relieve irritation, you may also use non-petroleum gels such as KY Gel which is available from your Pharmacist. DO NOT use creams or petroleum based gels such as Vaseline. If in doubt, consult your service provider.

50 FOOT TUBING

Allows for freedom of movement up to a maximum of 15 meters.

INDOOR INSTALLATION

Convenient professionally fitted indoor installation allows for freedom of movement within the confines of your home, without the inconvenience of moving the concentrator or cylinders to the room in which you wish to be in.

PRACTICAL HYGIENE OF YOUR
EQUIPMENT AND ACCESSORIES

Make sure that all accessories are kept clean and undamaged.
Always store equipment in a clean and dry environment. Wash your Mask or Cannula daily, in warm soapy water and then rinse in clean water. Dry thoroughly before reusing. Consult your oxygen therapy nurse if you have any concern about old or discoloured accessories. Accessories must be replaced on a regular basis to avoid contamination.
